About the Journal
The Bulletin de l'Institut français d'archéologie orientale (BIFAO) is a periodical published each year in French, English and German, with studies illustrating the most up-to-date research in the field of Egyptology. It covers all areas of the discipline (history, archaeology, art, philology, religion, etc.) from prehistory to the end of the Byzantine period in Egypt.
The journal publishes articles of all sizes, some of them richly illustrated, as well as editions of texts or objects, which makes it open to scholarly work. The scientific quality of articles is guaranteed by submitting them to external reviewers. The journal does not accept book reviews. The deadline for submission of manuscripts is 31 March each year. The editorial committee is under the patronage of Nicolas Grimal (Professor at the Collège de France, member of the Académie des inscriptions et belles-lettres). It includes the director of the Ifao, the director of studies and the publications manager.
